Simply put - a masterpiece, far less known than some of his other works. Don't let the political story irritate you - the film is much less about politics, than about the humans. It might remind you of his "No End", but the difference is significant, so don't let the events side affect you, keep on watching, and you will be richly rewarded.

I would like to revisit it. All his films are worthy of viewing, at least all the ones I have seen.
