"Bodyguard", another spy/terrorist 6-parter. Certainly not LeCarre standards.

Vic assessed this one a few threads back, as starting with promise, but fizzling out in the last 3 episodes. I've just sat through the first 3, which spin all the complicated intricacies for the players to supposedly work their way out of in the last 3. We'll see.

Unlike LeCarre stories, where you don't know what the hell is going on even as you watch it, this one lays it out there for you. You don't know what will happen next, but you know what is happening now. A hapless cop gets sucked up into guard duty for, and an affair with, a high British minister. Terrorist bombs, assassination attempts, good sex, yada yada ...

I think its mildly intriguing and entertaining, but not too involving. The hero/antihero dude has a Brit accent that you can't cut with a jackhammer. Consider closed caption viewing if you indulge.

Edit: There was a flick made some ago called The Bodyguard, with Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston. Similar theme as the guard and his charge get emotionally involved.

1987 flick on the same theme, with Tom Berenger and Mimi Rogers. Pretty steamy too.

Very nail biting, cliff hanger stuff, not ending like I thought because the hero/antihero dude was up against the firing squad's wall. Such dire power-infected high level plots don't leave happy endings for pawns. High level confessions made this easily would be the stuff of dreams for Mueller.

A fairy tale involving too much Superman and/or James Bond. I liked it a lot, but it was pure uncut BS. Very entertaining BS. If you like Marvel Studios flicks, then this won't bother you. Enjoy.
