Is the film "the usual suspects" any good?

Just found out this line is in it,

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

Never seen the film nor don't know what it is about. Anyone recommend I watch this one? Usually into sci-fi, and drug Lord films.

Thanks, I figured I would ask here because I didn't want to ruin the film by looking it up. I'll buy it on Amazon, thanks a lot for the help.

I remember seeing it when it came out and then going to see it again in a theater...a rare event but wanted to see it again after information revealed at the end changed perspective.

I won't say much about it but it's got some great actors, various accounts of the same events, lots of noir atmosphere. I'm not as excited about it as I once was, i will not say why, though now I think I might watch it again.

Last Film I Watched Was Colossus The Forbin Project, posted on February 17, 2019 at 13:29:16
Last film I watched was Colossus the Forbin Project from the 70s I think. I don't know Hollywood movies nor actors besides the actors in the Matrix film and Sandra Bullock who I remember first seeing in a film with Stallone relating to people being brought back to life in the future but I forgot the name of the movie.

I do recommend Colossus The Forbin Project as well as a German film called World on a Wire which is old too. Russian films like Solaris are good too. I also like anything Kubrick. That's about it for my film knowledge, thanks for the help.

given your taste in fine film - not sure this qualifies... in fact it does not. nt, posted on February 17, 2019 at 14:09:11

Are you a Netflix member? They have BR.

Just computer, laptop. I used to have a projector but decided against it because I never used it too often. Computer is fine for me and I have horrible vision, I am legally blind without glasses. At least I still have some good hearing for audio which is my main hobby.

Don't subscribe to Netflix or TV service. Can't justify the cost which is excessive for mostly trash.

Oscars for Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor (Spacey). At the time of its release, it was something of a novelty because of the structure and characters of the story. Definitely an ensemble.

Just watch it then you'll know. Some people loved it - Interestingly Roger Ebert hated it which I always thought odd since Roger always seemed to me to be rather easy on Hollywood films like this. He raised some good points though as to why it's a manipulative film.

As Roger wrote "I prefer to be amazed by motivation, not manipulation."

I don't think it holds up nearly as well as when it was released in 1995. The novelty then isn't so novel now. And novelty was it's main strength.

Still *1/2 out of 4 was a bit rough.
