insane in the membrane! Which DVD player?

trying to decide between the Pioneer 414 based on a friend's recommendation, the Panasonic A-120 or the Toshiba 2109. I can probably get each of them for $299. The Pioneer and Panasonic, I'd get locally, and the Toshiba has a good deal at e-town til Mar 31st. But I've heard lip sync problems with the 414, and only minor problems with the others. many people complain about the remotes on the Panasonic and the Pioneer (small buttons, etc..) but I don't care. I only need the coax output so the Toshiba is fine without a Toslink. I don't think I need to play CDRs at least i don't have a CD-R in my PC anyway. I can't decide.. Here's my desires:

1)DTS/DD out-no built in decoder
2)DVD quality only, I have a CD player
3)dependable, no unfixable problems.
4)video quality (note: I'll only have a 20" tv with S-video which is why
i'm not terribly concerned with the video quality, I figure most of these are 3rd generation or better by now)

Do you think the 414 is a good purchase??? All these lip sync problems are scaring me.

Can't speak for the other players but I've got the Pioneer and have had no lipsynch problems...it's a great unit. I will say that the housing isn't the best quality...had it home only a few minutes when my fat house cat said "hummm what's that" and proceeded to sit on it! Removing the housing and placing it on some towels and several minutes with a heavy rolling pin took out the huge dent! Most in this price range won't have much better build quality.

I have a SD2109 and I am totally impressed by it. I've only had it for 4
days and watched 5 movies with no problems what so ever. The picture, color, and audio are exceptional.

I have the A110 and I love it. I have had no problems at all. Picture is outstanding. I am sure the A-120 would be great as well.

I have had my 2109, and watched 3 movies- I love the unit except for the 3-4 audio dropouts in every movie! Don't know if it's the unit or cable, but I may return it for the 3109. Have had any of the problems i mentioned ?

Pat, I haven't had any problems with the SD2109. I've watched at least 12 movies on it. I would check the cables before returning the unit.
