Got a free DVD from Suncoast video from Sears when I bought a panasonic A-120 and was wondering if anybody has any recommendations for DVD's that have a good AC-3 soundtrack.

After searching high and low, I've come up with the :fifth element (from Columbia/Tri Star. Good? It's gotten good reviews at www.dvdresource.com and from the SMR forums, plus I never saw it before so it seems to match.
the other movies I found that fit was Twister, which I've seen and wasn't that impressed with the movie, Air Force one, which I've also seen or
Blade Runner, which is tempting, but it's only 2-channel DD or DPL (I forget which) Since I want to check out the 5.1 channel I thought I'd go with the 5th element...

I'd say it's typical action. Not a great film but good soundtrack, stunning visual effects and entertaining.

The Fifth Element is much better than Twister or Air Force One, IMHO, but it's no Blade Runner.

Thanks, that's what I'm really after, I'm at the newbile stage where I want to setup my HT after purchasing my first DVD player so I read some good reviews of the audio and video portions of fifth element and I've never seen it before. I've seen Blade Runner a couple of times (not on DVD) and I read that it's only enhanced, not 5.1 so it wont really test out my DD processor and my HT as good as the Fifth element.

True, but a Wozz points Blade Runner is in another class.

Great, I've seen twister and AFO already, I didn't like twister, and AFO was OK. Blade Runner is a classic and I doubt I would or could compare it against BR, but I just as much now want to play with the DD as much as watch a movie, unfortunately the BR is just an enhanced transfer, although supposed a good audio track, it's not full 5.1 channel transfer. I can get that cheaply on the net down the road, haven't seen it since college anyway...

The Fifth Element is indeed excellent and shows off dynamic range extremely well, but if you are in the mood for a softer movie experience, check out Bram Stoker's Dracula. Stunning sonic details abound.

I don't know who distributes Das Boot but that is supposed to have great 5.1 effects. The film itself is also very good!

Yup, Columbia/Tristar dist. that. I found out only after I got the Fifth Element because it had a flyer in the insert that listed most of the C/TS releases. Oh well, I heard alot of good stuff about the Fifth Element as a DVD, not necessarily as a movie, but I'm in the Wow mode such that the movie is not that important! :-)
