HDMI Audio Problem - Need some Expert Consultation......

 OK, I am spending the winter in Australia, so this is a temporary situation that I would like to fix if possible.

The Flatscreen TV (Phoenix TV - Model LTV4011D 40 inches - Can't find anything about it all) in our apartment has something wrong with its speakers. They sound terrible, especially if the volume increases. I think they are actually damaged.

For regular TV, I have solved the problem by taking the audio out RCA Jacks into a 3.5mm jack into my Bose Soundlink II powered speaker - Works Great!!

Here is the problem - I have a Roku 3 unit that only has an HDMI port out. When Plugged into the TV, the volume is even lower than regular TV and I have to turn it up to hear it... The audio output jacks do not put out any sound at all when in HDMI mode. So, the TV speakers really sound awful and Buzz when using the Roku.

I have looked for a Headphone Jack on the TV to see, if I could plug that into my Bose Soundlink, but I cannot find a headphone jack on the TV.

I don't want to spend any money (other than $10 or so) as I am only here for another couple months...

Anybody have an idea?

 If TV has optical out, try that. If not, Maybe you can get a
hdmi in/out box that can extract the audio off the signal, then
passing the video out to the TV.

 I started searching on E-Bay Australia for an HDMI to Video/Audio Cable and found one for about $5 ..... This should work as I can plug the video connection cable into the TV and the Audio into my Powered Speaker.

 I think you'll be stuck with 720P max using RCA inputs. I may be
wrong...someone else may know more.

 I use an audio de-imbedder to peel off the audio from Roku HDMI output. I have a plasma monitor that has no tuner/speakers. HDMI in to the deimbedder from Roku and then separate HDMI video out and audio out via stereo mini jack out from deimbedder. Then stereo mini to RCA cable over to the amp. Works well.

 The cable I ordered does not work at all for video (Not surprised)....

But when researching headphone jack again, I discovered that the ROKU has a headphone jack! Not on the unit itself (Where I had been looking), but on the remote.... took a 3.5 mm cable and plugged it into my Bose Soundlink and it cut the audio of the TV off and the Portable Speaker played Great! I had the solution All along and have been listening to the crappy TV Audio for damn near 2 months now.
