OLED TV calibration

 I recently purchased a 65 inch LG OLED TV which looks great out of the box.
I've done a few changes on the brightness and other settings, but now I'm wondering if I should have it professionally calibrated.
Will I notice subtle changes or not so subtle changes if the TV is calibrated?
I think there is software available for the DIY, but I still think you need to buy a meter.

There are probably websites with the calibration info for your TV. Maybe not as precise as professional calibration, but it'll be better than the factory settings.

 That will depend on how "off" the TV is out of the box. They've gotten better in the last few years about that. If you Google your model number, you will find reviewers and owners who will list the settings of their calibrated set. That will get you most of the way there.

 When my Panasonic plasma gives up the ghost I will by OLED. How do you like it?

 My downstairs neighbor is a filmmaker and owns a visual affects company.

He helped me immensely AFA calibration: but it was all his eyeballs and advice.

Apologies for not answering your question, but based on what I'm seeing, - I am glad that I didn't pay a pro to come out with a tester to calibrate it: especially given that Comcast compresses the signal, and broadcast TV is a bit disappointing compared to in store demos.
(I guess that that is no surprise).

Doesn't mean that I don't love the TV, - it's still worlds away from the 40" Samsung that I had previously.

 I love the TV, and it's a big improvement from my 10 year old Toshiba 42 inch.
But now, I have a problem with the screen.
The other day, I turned on the TV and noticed some white halo lights on the right side of the tv. I will post some pictures for forum members to critique.
I called LG and they said someone would call me back in about a week to troubleshoot.
I guess I'm not their only customer!
