Four out of five of the 4k dvds i recently bought will not play. I have a relatively new Sony 4k TV and a Sony 4k blueray player. I can't believe it's the dvds themselves. I tried rebooting the blueray player but still get a "no disc" message on the screen.

Any thoughts?

It sure sounds like the player. I've got a Samsung Blu-Ray player that always had issues with various DVDs from NetFlix which always played fine on the XBox. I flipped it over to my office system when I bought an Oppo 4K player and strangely, the player that wouldn't play some DVDs works perfectly every time with Blu-Ray DVDs.

Take the player in along with the DVDs and check it out at the store.

My blueray player is a 4k UHD Upscale player. Not a 4k player. Very frustrating!! Makes me wonder if the one "4k" dvd that worked in it is really "4k".

Why don't salespeople know wtf they are selling?

Because it's not a high paying job, you end up with people doing the best they can. Unless you bought from a high end B&M, which are almost extinct...

Yeah, I've seen where this could be confusing.

I'm not too sure they don't print those boxes to be intentionally misleading.

As for that "4k disc" you played, a lot of time they bundle a regular Blu-Ray in the package with the 4k disc and it's possible you grabbed that by mistake.
