Anyone use Xfinity Streaming Beta Ap? When casting from my computer, quality won't go beyond 720p

My new Vizio TV won't allow me to download the Xfinity beta ap, that's why I'm casting. I can cast 1080 videos from the computer but streaming seems limited to 720, as reported by TV. I have already tried selecting "high" and "auto" video quality while streaming with no change.

I have an Amazon Fire Stick coming Sunday and I will see if that allows (or handles) 1080 and 4K after I download the app onto it.

Apps that came with the TV handle both HD and 4K with no buffering issues whatsoever.

I've been using Xfinity Beta App on several Roku devices with good results. The App is not as full featured as the Xfinity Box, but as apps go it does a pretty good job.

I've had several Fire Sticks, but much prefer the Roku devices. They're all within a similar price range. For me, the Fire Stick presentation is just too busy. I appreciate the simplicity of the Roku interface.

I suspect a fire Stick will work for you, but for a few bucks consider a Roku device.

One great virtue of the Roku is that most everyone writes apps for it. So if you want a strange app there is a good chance that Roku will accept it.

Many TV with built in apps limit their selection of apps to a small selection of the most popular apps.

Thanks for info and rec's. nt, posted on June 25, 2021 at 08:45:49
