"Babette's Feast"

This is probably THE best food movie ever made. It tells the story of a French expatriate chef who, after working for 17 years as a servant/compnion for two nineteenth century coastal Danish spinster sisters, decides to repay them with a sumptuous meal purchased with recent lottery winnings. The three live in an an aging and ever dwindling fundementalist community and Babette invites everyone, imcluding an old soldier visiting nearby who once courted one of the sisters. The meal and its preparation take up most of the narrative and is of course of to die for quality. Highly recommended but don't watch this if you're hungry.
