Two Southern California Friends

Last night I dug out my laserdisc copy of "Clueless" and my 5.1 DVD of "The Terminator" and watched them back to back, starting with the former.

Heckerling's "Clueless" remains enormously entertaining, with some great players and wonderfully funny lines (my favorite: "Do you like Billie Holiday?" "I love him".). I'll pull this out again and again every couple of years.

"The Terminator" is also wonderfully entaining, a near perfect blend of story, action, wonderment, and romance. Of course you have to ignore Linda Hamilton's (non) acting and a couple of continuity errors, but every time I see this I am amazed at how well it holds up. The music is terrific and I am amazed that they were able to derive such a tremendous 5.1 sound track on this, the second DVD edition (all the laserdiscs and the first DVD were in mono). The sound adds a great deal to the package. IMHO this is Cameron's masterpiece (although i'm one of those who likes "Titanic" and am waiting for the five hour director's anamorphic DTS DVD).
