"The Fugitive Kind:" adapted for the screen by the "queen"

Brando gives a terrific performance showing that to command a scene, all he need do is raise his eyebrow or scowl.
Anna Magnani is the frustrated, aging wife married to the brutal older husband, played by Victor Jory whose voice should have been declared a national treasure.
A very young Joanne Woodward is the party-crazy young floozie who tries everything to seduce the world-weary Xavier (Brando).
If you like Williams, you'll like this.
Yes, there are some scenes which almost seem like intentional parodies but the overall strength of the story, illuminated by real fireworks between Magnani and Brando, carry it off.
Film afficionados will recognize the town sheriff: if there's a scarier actor I've not seen him.
