Walter White transgressed the rules of polite society and destroyed his family, so like the transgressor in all film noirs, he had to die. Jesse was the impressionable sidekick who eventually demonstrated maturity and had remorse for his actions, so he was allowed to live. However, he will spend the rest of his life regretting his actions. That's his punishment. Again, classic film noir. I'd give this episode an 8 out of 10.

Breaking Bad does just about everything right you can do in a TV show. The blend of character development (I can't recall the last time a TV show showed such a comprehensive character transformation) and plot is perfect. There are so many good techniques in this show. I hope other writers of TV understand what made BB so good, and emulate it.

I'm looking forward to the spin-off series about Saul Goodman.

Now the problem is finding another show that's as good as BB. The Walking Dead is, I hope, going to be that show. I'm just about to watch season three, so here's hoping it delivers the goods.
