Let It Be - 47 years late

I just finished watching The Beatles, Let It Be film for the first time. It was always "Yeah, I'll see it someday" all through the 1970s, but I never sought out a copy, and then it went out of print.

I kept waiting, but the rumor is that the remaining Beatles don't want the film re-released because they feel it puts the band in a bad light. I don't know if that's true, but McCartney does have a reputation for re-writing history.

Given all the hype I've been hearing about it for the past forty-seven years, I was expecting a whole lot more tension in the film than there actually was. Granted, there were a few moments, mostly between McCartney and Harrison, but nothing like I was expecting. I've read numerous times that Let It Be is like watching a couple's relationship being filmed leading up to their divorce. It's easy to write a conclusion like that in retrospect, given that their was a divorce. But it sure looked to me like everybody was having a good time, most of the time. Actually the most sullen one, I'd say, was Ringo.

Rumors of the movie being re-released came and went, but I finally got tired of waiting, and bought a bootleg DVD on ebay. One more thing off my bucket list, and the complete rooftop concert alone was worth seeing. About the only thing missing from that was Ron Nasty pushing a roadie off the roof.

Edited for spelling error.
