current HDTV not compatible with The new HDTV signal?

I just bought a sony xbr2, and I know sony is taking the HDTV tuner out of their new model........why? Does this have any thing to do with the link below, about current HDTVs not being compatable with the new HTDV??? Im pissed, can any one shed some light on this subject.
