Home Video Asylum

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

Most discs are self-explanatory

Just load it up in your DVD player and most of them have a tutorial on how to use a display's control settings. If you can operate a remote control and follow simple directions, you're home free!

I have "A Video Standard" and "Video Essentials" on LD. When "Video Essentials" came out on DVD, I purchased it too. The VE DVD has several sections. For the picture settings, there's a brief discussion on what each function does on a display. After this tutorial of sorts, you're let loose to actually make the changes and corrections to your display. It really is rather simple to use. I'd recommend actually listening and watching the tutorial before jumping into the test patterns. This way, you'll understand the "hows" and "whys" of each control and what it can and can't do on your display. Best of luck!
