Pioneer DV-535 & Loewe Xelos Widescreen

203.134.24.180

I recently bought the above combination and the resulting picture using component output is largely very good. However, when on widescreen the black bar above the screen is not as dense a black as the bar below. There is a greyness which is lighter across the top of the screen which becomes darker the closer that you get to the picture itself. It is also evident on DVD output which takes up the full dimension of the widescreen. If I set the TV to 4:3 rather than widescreen then the distortion only goes as far as the 4:3 width so I reckon the DVD output is the problem rather than the TV. I can negate this distortion by tweaking the contrast and brightness on the TV to some extent but this is not ideal. Does anyone have ideas as to what this is caused by? Is it posible that it is due to the cables that I have ? They were given to me by the shop that I bought the TV from.
