'Curtiz': New movie about old movies . . .

Posted by Billy Wonka on March 28, 2020 at 10:11:47:

Shot mostly in B&W, this retelling of Michael Curtiz's struggles during the filming of 'Casablanca' is a perfect blend of humor, drama, and recreation of the "old style". Ferenc Lengyel plays a strong Curtiz who does battle with the intefereing government "advisors" who want to make sure the film is uplifting and patriotic. His performance seems to be pitch-perfect.

There is another struggle with a younger woman who will not leave him alone much to the consternation of Curtiz's much-cuckolded wife.

Shot in English but subtitles will be needed occasionally unless you speak Hungarian. It is a Hungarian film.

Currently on NF.
