This is a compelling story of a kidnapping in France that became a flashpoint for determining what a "hate crime" is and how French police handle crime. This Jewish family became distrusting and hostile to the cold and clinical approach dictated by procedure and a psychologist. After bungles and missteps, the son is finally found.

Based on the book written by a family member, it sheds light on the raw emotions created by the act.
