The Sony is fantastic!

I've been looking at a new TV to replace a maybe 10 year old 55" Samsung. OLED was my preference and I'd been waiting for prices to come down to reasonable levels for more than a year. I kept looking at them side by side though, 55" vs 65", and just didn't see a huge difference. 65" is bigger, but only about 33% bigger.

Finally, after researching the whole OLED vs LCD question, I stumbled onto the Sony 940D with Full Array LED Back Lighting aka FALD and the reviews were fantastic with the only knock being viewing at extreme angles. The fact that 75" is twice the size of a 55" TV and some reservations with OLED being less than a mature technology, I pulled the trigger on the 75" Sony 940D last month.

What I really love is the smart TV features. I just plugged in the Sony and moved the main HDMI cable over the it's ARC HDMI input and added the IR blaster in front of the cable box and went through the start up menus and bingo, the thing controls my Yamaha receiver for the HT sound, turns it on and off automatically and fully functions as a cable remote to boot, very slick. With the Android TV, I installed Plex and bang, it runs great for streaming from our NAS. The only knock would be that the cable box control is a little sluggish, but not a big deal and surely easier than having a bunch of remotes on the coffee table.

But yes, the LG is fantastic and scores a bit better than the Sony on rtings. It's all about trade offs and my tipping point was size.
