Prospect - very good "Western/Sci-Fi"

Posted by Dr Phibes on March 22, 2019 at 02:58:53:

I wasn't expecting much, but I was more then pleasantly surprised by "Prospect". Great performances with a simple, yet captivating script made this surprisingly good Sci Fi.
Sophie Thatcher gives a great understated performance along with Pedro Pascal (Narcos, Equalizer 2) that propel this film head and shoulders above the usual mediocre Sci Fi dreck that is on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Shout out to Sheila Vand (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night) as "Inumon" whose brief appearance is unsettling and captured my imagination.
"Prospect" is about isolation, trust, greed and the coming of age. Set on a distant mining planet with a cast of diverse outlaws and weirdos it always feels other-worldly without a 100 million dollar budget. If one is expecting a Marvel movie, some might find Prospect slow at times- but I would disagree. I found it never, ever boring.

Have a great day!
