'Us': Vengeance is Peele's . . .

Posted by Billy Wonka on April 21, 2019 at 13:06:40:

Well-to-do black family visits their beach house for their annual vacation where they meet their white friends. Surprisingly, dad (Winston Duke) is portrayed as a real, hapless dad who needs a wife to keep him straight (Nyong'o). At the beach, we meet their friends (Moss and Heidecker) who are some of the most obnoxious whities you would want to avoid. Young daughter slips away into a mirror house and runs into herself not a mirror. Nobody listens to her. Later, their doppelgangers appear and invade the house. Now we slip into a long chain of violence from their home to Moss's home. Lots of people die.

There are laughs, thankfully, as Gabe Wilson (dad) provides them like clockwork.

3.0 wonks for casting and script

1.5 wanks for "haven't I seen this before" and the obvious "look who caused this"
