Divingbell and the Butterfly

I saw this on Friday night and I have to admit I was fairly cautious given the concept. I needn't have worried, it was excellent. It was beautifully shot as you might expect and the cast was strong. What I never expected was the humour (the scene with the telephone engineers was great), half expecting something overwrought.

A remarkable story and the way the locked-in syndrome was conveyed to the audience was extremely effective, initially unbearably frustrating Schnabel manages to slowly give the impression of Bauby's acceptance of his situation.

Beautifully paced, beautifully shot, very well acted and a killer soundtrack to boot (U2, Tom Waits, Mescaleros).
