I hate prejudging, but...

I saw Quantum of Solace over the weekend, the first time I have gone to see a movie since our first child was born more than five years ago. A new Tom Cruise film made the highlight reel. He plays a German soldier, with some scenes from the desert. I presume this involved the plot in which Rommel was involved to kill Hitler.

Now, I have enjoyed some of Tom Cruise's films for what they are. But Cruise, as a German soldier, eyepatch and wavy hair and all? Maybe the production will sell the film, but I am having a difficult time with that casting. I am not sure if Cruise produced or directed, but heck, even Clint Eastwood and George Clooney direct some very good films in which they do not appear or play the lead because they are not right for the part.

At least he does not appear to fake a German accent.
