The Breach

Rented this film by Billy Ray, mainly because of Chris Cooper who always turns in a superb performance.

Based on a true story, (with Eric O'Neil credited with supplying info for the film), it tells of top FBI agent Robert Hanssen (Cooper) being slowly caught out after selling secrets to the Soviets for 22 years.

Ryan Phillipe as Eric O'Neil gives perfect support to Cooper.

Cooper once again gives a magistral performance in this well-paced, sombre spy story and I'm wondering if Cooper might not be America's finest actor, if not the most underrated?
