The Limits of Control: A study in color and purpose . . .

Posted by mr grits on December 13, 2009 at 18:01:49:

This Jim Jarmusch tale of an enigmatic stranger on a secret quest takes us to Madrid and other beautiful Spanish locations as he follows a trail of instructions from art galleries, restaurants, and clubs. He is followed by a beautiful Spanish woman who sleeps with him naked and offers him sex only to be told, "...no sex while working". A cast of colorful characters pop up delivering notes in matchboxes which tell him where to go next on his way to the final destination.

This is a very beautiful film showing the color and taste of Spain. Its hypnotic pace mesmerizes your interest and keeps you focused on the slow-moving but deliberate actions of the stranger, Issac de Banko, as he moves through his mundane days traveling to the end.

This is a film for a quiet, introspective day.
