I find him problematical at best. What punishment he deserves I can't say, but Polanski's a slimeball at the very least. And not that it excuses his conduct in any way, but any mother that allowed her 13 year old daughter to participate in such a situation is also culpable.
However, Polanski *is* a brilliant filmmaker. Ghost Writer is quite well done and it's nice to see an intelligent thriller for adults in the local cinplex (although I figured out the twist long before it was revealed). I did have a problem with the ending, but GW is a beautifully executed movie.
