Fargo... the Icelander style

You might disagree... to me "Jar City" definitely brought up the memories of Fargo.
I have seen a few Icelander (is this correct way to say it?) films, and usually get the same impression - being isolated from the mainstream movie making, they tend to be interesting. Even if not great.
Perhaps it is the ambiance - the cold, desolate plains, wind, snow, ocean... people all wearing sweaters... who knows. But you always feel the vibration of that society, which can't be confused with the others.
Jar City is a crime drama done to the traditional recipe - a murder investigation starts to pull in more and more characters, the case turns out anything but simple, there are layers of human emotions, tragedies, pains.
Some questions will be answered, others - can't possibly be - there is no easy way out of drug addiction. Which makes it so much closer to life.
Ah, yes... and if it also brings back the memories of Insomnia, then so be it! :)
