"OSS 117 - Lost In Rio": Politically Correct Holocaust

Posted by mr grits on October 3, 2010 at 16:41:19:

Jean Dujardin reprises his role as France's answer to the idiot's James Bond. In his first mission he was sent to Cairo to clean up a nest of spies while showing complete and total naive insensitivity to Arabs and Muslims.

This time it is 1967 and Dujardin is sent to Rio to buy some information on Nazi collaborators. The last film was used humorously chewing up Arabs but this time it's Israelis and the Mossad. 117 has not grown one iota since the time frame of the last film (1956) and his politcal and social naivety deserves the death penalty.

These films are over-the-top satires and this particular one really uses the full bag of 60's film making with multiple screens, punched up color, lots of swimsuit cuties, and Dujardin's merciless James Bond looks and attire.

In the bonus feature one of the writer/director's commented that in France it is allowable in film to use lots of humor about Arabs, Jews, and black people. Since it was Arabs last time they decided it would be Jews this time.

If you liked the goofy college kid movies of the 60's and 70's you will feel perfectly at home with "Cairo" or "Rio". Very laughable.
