"Audition" - Japanese

"Audition" - Japanese **Extreme torture alert**
This thriller-diller could be the most twisted film I've ever seen in my life.
But it was much more then a manipulative series of violent acts ... the violence was pertinent to the social subtext that was very loud and clear. Additionally the cinematography was lovely. Great editing too.
I usually veer away from films with torture ... but I found this film to be refreshingly successful horror/suspense with a poignant statement about the role of women in Japanese culture.
Whew!
