De Gaulle and the French Corps affected the outcome, post-D Day? I don't know, how much should

have been dedicated to that? The series, as you note, is plenty long.
It's like the Resistance: it existed, but it hardly was a flea-bite on the leg of the Nazi Giant. The violence of retribution, slaughtering and torturing entire villages where any dissent was manifested, pretty much doomed a lot of organized resistance. And, outside of giving the French some needed pride back, what could it accomplish against such a mighty force? An occupied country, one that is taken over by truly ruthless lords, has no chance.
