"The Thing": Sometimes science should leave well enough alone.

"I'm going to take a tissue sample", says Thomsen. "Are you sure that's the right thing to do?", replies Winstead.

You are looking at 10 foot tall cockroach with gigantic crab claws sealed in a melting block of ice. So what do you do, "What's the largest size drill you have", asks Thomsen? That's all it took.

Because of the title I think it's hard to overcome the idea that this is not a remake. It has the same type scientific facility, the same creature, the same effects, same action, but filmed with a cool, icy tone instead of the warm Technicolor of the original. Indeed it is the same story that happened just days before Kurt Russel got involved.

If you are a sci-fi lover you will find this a decent film and enjoy it. If you like great film for the ages this is not it....but you should already know that if you have a room temperature IQ.
