Cruelty that stays with you

Posted by Victor Khomenko on October 31, 2013 at 06:14:20:

By the time an American kid is 12, he has seen the throats slashed 12,543 times, objects thrust in the bodies 6,353 times, people hacked to pieces about ten thousand times. So they always talk about desensitization. Fair enough... but still, sometimes a particular episode sticks in your memory.

What's yours?

Mine came from the fairly lame movie Drive... yes, I know, rated very highly on imdb, but still just a B movie, in my view.

However, the arm slashing episode I can't get out of my mind. I wonder, what made it this different, that it keeps bothering me?

If you have not seen the film - don't be in a rush... unless you have super-hots for Christina Hendricks, who gets her head blown off, for playing a minor role there.

Clearly, somewhere in a dark room in the middle of the Hollywood there is a group of young (they got to be young...) perverts, trying to invent the new ways of shocking us.

And sometimes they even succeed.
