The Circle...

Posted by mkuller on May 1, 2017 at 18:35:10:

...having read the book, I had high hopes for this film version starring Emma Watson and Tom Hanks.

It is somewhat of a horror story about a company - think Facebook and Google combined on steroids - which controls the internet and takes away privacy in the interest making humanity nicer.

Anyway, the film was disappointing, leaving a lot of the nuances and character development aside to further the main plot.

It ends with a whimper unlike the book which had a scarier ending.

It was entertaining and I'd give it a C - good for streaming if there's nothing better to watch.
