'It': No Depends necessary . . .

For me, probably the least disappointing King movie made yet. I have no knowledge of the book and did not see the "made for t.v." version. So, I had no idea that this was going to be 'Goonies' on double steroids.

This film was meticulously put together. The town of "Derry", the locations, the effects, and the superb cast of young actors not to mention Bill Skarsgard (Pennywise) and Sophia Lillis (Beverly). We get to know and feel an empathetic call for these young misfits who are shy, awkward, and bullied. They become embroiled in the mystery of Derry's missing children and tragedy brings them in full pursuit of the clown they have all managed to see: Pennywise.

This film did not go total gore or even close but it did deliver a few shocks here and there. Even though it is rated an ominous R most of the shock comes out of the mouths of babes with a proliferation of singular profanities.

It is compelling and interesting and written in such a way I found myself wondering about the lives of the kids outside of the camera's view. I guess that's good. Commendably, Bill Skarsgard does an outstanding job for an actor you would never ID in his makeup. This is one of those "pay your dues" roles like Jeff Daniels in 'Dumb and Dumber'.

When the credits first came up it treated the title as such: "It: The First Chapter'. I presume that means there is a sequel to treat the whole novel. Yes, King fanboys?

Well, Lots of coca cola and a bushel of popcorn will get you started. Take it easy on the bladder busting as it is 2:15:00.
