The Room

Posted by Dr Phibes on December 29, 2017 at 08:28:24:

I watched The Room again because of the publicity covering "The Disaster Artist" - a film with James Franco and his usual crew - based on the Greg Sestero book about the making of The Room.

Yes, The Room is a horrible piece of movie and while it's mysteriously off-kilter, awful and simultaneously captivating -it could never be my favorite "bad" movie. It's too mean spirited. Ed Wood's films always had some element of love, humor or reverence, The Room has none of those things.

Tommy Wiseau is at best laughable and exceptionally weird, but there is a egotistical misogyny buried under coats of narcissism that I found distasteful and certainly not worthy of multiple viewings. I wondered what initially inspired those guys to make a feature movie about this turd?

It's no "Hillbillies in a Haunted House"- for sure!
