Hard to believe that Gone With The Wind is...

almost 80 years old! I watched this on Prime the other night. There is ALOT about that film to still love. The performances are still relevant. It's hard to imagine anyone else in those key characters with maybe the exception of Ashley. I have NEVER understood why Scarlett was drawn to him. Leslie Howard was a poor casting choice. Someone like say Randolph Scott would have been more believable and a rival to Rhett/Clark. ALL of the production values are still top notch. Especially Walter Plunkett's costumes, the cinematography, the music and set and art decoration. The only thing to me which dates the film in a big way are the passages from the book that are intermittently inserted into the film. Every time I see that film I can't help thinking how immensely beautiful Vivien Leigh was. Also, I do wonder how the film might have changed if George Cukor would have finished the project. But, I'll worry about that tomorrow, for tomorrow is another day!
