Saw Fantastic Beasts 2

with the family (wife, and college, post grad children). While part of the Harry Potter universe, and considered a "family" movie, I would say no, as it is too dark for younger children.

Some acting is ok, more of it is a bit camp or OTT. Johnny Depp is the main villain-nuff said. Allison Sudol plays the movie traditional misunderstood beauty. Katherine Watterson plays Allison's sister, the practical girl next door. Eddie Redmayne plays the lead, and Jude Law plays a very important supporting character. Zoe Kravitz plays a key role.

The cast is overtly multicultural- probably in response to criticism that the original HP series was too overtly white British Public School.

Katherine Watterson is an under-rated actress, and I found her easier on the eyes then the other women in the movie.

Pre-teens and teens will like being back in the Potter world. Adults will pick up on the underlying themes of Eugenics, Racial Purity, Ethnic Nationalism and try to draw parallels to the present.

Seems to be a hit so far....$300mm+ since Nov 2 premiere, meaning more installments in the years to come.

Worse ways to spend 2hrs; or wait till it streams.
