Do Not Buy Samsung BD-P1200 (or 1400) Blueray player

Posted by ruxtonvet on October 16, 2007 at 18:25:36:

Samsung will not support their Bluray players. The BD-P1200 will not play many new Bluray discs ( 28 Weeks, The Fly both released this week). No firmware update is available to correct this problem. Many new CDs also will cause the player to freeze. The version 1400 will play these but it does not upconvert regular DVDs as well as the 1200. Samsung knows of this problem since is was corrected in the 1400 version but they would rather rush another "new" player to the market rather than support there old (the 1200 is 4 months old) player. They are in violation of their warranty (maybe) but taking legal action them is difficult. Buyer beware.
