He doesn't need dumb pucks like you breathing down his neck over what he should or shouldn't buy with his own money.

My post was directed to disbeliever, specifically to "wind him up".

Fact is, the str-da5400es is really a nice receiver with a great auto-calibration feature.
The sonic performance of the analog circuits and power amp section were greatly improved over it's predecessors, str-da5300es and str-da5200es. I know intimately because I lived with each one of these for a year.
