Audio Processor Advice -- Do I even need one??

Posted by jedrider on February 26, 2012 at 17:41:52:

Finally, got rid of my CRT monitor. Wifey wants the big screen like everyone else (except big screen for us is just 42 inches because that is all our cabinet will accept).

I have a question about the audio processor. DO I NEED ONE??

I have a Panasonic XA-45 and Axiom M2 loudspeakers. A terrible combination IMO! So, I am looking to redo it without spending too much money. I have a few loudspeakers in mind such as Totem Mites or PSB Imagine B.

As I only think I will need two loudspeakers, do I even need the processor? If not, my best bet would be to keep the XA for the rare times when I need some 5 ch - 2 ch conversion -- such as for foreign films, and just think about a two-channel setup. Will not really be used for music too often, although I am considering a music server for the family.

?? Any suggestions? Audio processors that are not state of the art video switches seem to be a dime a dozen on the used market, so just wondering??
