Compromise solution

Use your DVD player to drive rear amps and sub. Get a used stereo amp for rears if you need to (I got a Parasound HCA 1500A or something for <$200 on Craigslist). Feed the front 2 through your good system. That's what I'm doing to have a pretty great movie sound while having a no-compromise (other than budget) stereo system.
