RE: New Product Review (Strong/Long)

Posted by tweakmenow on May 4, 2014 at 08:02:42:

Thoroughly enjoyed this post! In fact, I said to my girlfriend that, "you must be my evil twin". I have also used Bybee's, Z-Sleeves, filter caps, Purepower 1050, and shielding to improve video and audio performance. While good two channel can make me feel a bit giddy, eye popping video is such a pleasure to watch. In fact "eye candy" might be a good way to describe this.

About a month ago I replaced the Vishay Hexfreds, that had been in my disc player since October 09, with the IXYX HyperDYNfred diodes. I am blown away how good these diodes are. Four of them with shipping will set you back around $35. Video and audio performance "went through the roof". Looking at the stock power supply of the Oppo BDP-83, the diodes used appear to be the cheapest on the planet. This style diode is crap, plain and simple. They cost about ten cents each. If you do not mod your equipment internals, BEG someone to do it for you. I live on the East Coast of the US, and would gladly do this mod for you if you can't find anyone locally. I'm talking for free, as this is a quick, completely no-brainer job. You will see that this is indeed the best $35 you have ever spent on "tweaks".

Also, while you are at it, it would not hurt to replace the two main filtering caps with some quality Panasonic, low impedance, high ripple caps. Video performance will improve as well.
