RE: Roku 3 has no digital out

Posted by Sondek on May 22, 2014 at 10:19:26:

I had an issue with the Roku 3 too. I do not have an HTR, but using Pio sound bar. My TV is monitor only, no tuner, no audio. The sound bar has 1 optical which I use for the DVR/tuner connection, and 1 set of RCA inputs. I bought one of those little boxes that strip the audio out of HDMI and then pass it via RCA. Don't know if something like that would work for you or not. The audio deimbedder I bought is the Kanex Pro. There are other make/models out there that are more sophisticated than the Kanex, but it does what I need it to. The Kanex Pro claims to support 3-d sound and has an optical out connector too.
