First off, Bong Joon Ho is no one-shot director. His "Memories of Murder" is far superior to the oft-lauded, David Fincher-helmed, "Zodiac." Simply put, it's the best of modern true crime films. And it's scary as hell.
"Mother" is an examination of love: to what lengths will people go to protect family? The lead actor strongly deserved an Oscar.
"Snowpiercer:" easily the most entertaining and fun (though, of course, with Bong's social/allegorical sense present) of blockbuster entertainment.
"The Host:" a thinking man's monster film with, again, a lot of political/social implications--- but never intrusive or detracting from the sheer pleasures of the genre. The actors uniformly are excellent in Bong's films, with many faces recurring from film to film.
"Parasite" left me cold the first viewing, but upon the second one, I appreciated the zaniness--- he created a world and his characters were true to it. Brilliant writing, sensational acting. "The young, meanwhile, have largely given up hope of ever affording their own home. Buying property in Seoul takes about 13.4 years' worth of income, compared with 5.7 times in New York and 4.8 times in even Tokyo." Wash Post

Nothing so dramatic, actually. Now, however, I'm living the dream in KC...
of the Native-American leadership. I mean, who isn't a Mahomes fan?
Good to see you back. I enjoy your movie comments.
KC has been evolving pretty steadily for some time and there are lots of local breweries. Not the IPA treasure trove that the NW is, but there are good brewers here. Food? It's a little lard-driven, but there are exceptions and the trend is to lighter fare. Bacon, heavy gravy, and fried foods still dominate, though. Glad to hear from ya (goin' all Midwest, for sure).
a buddy of mine from college visited Germany and came back with the hare brained scheme to start a brewery. I was invited to invest, but I had no money back then, and it seemed risky to boot. Now it is a true KC success story and well worth visiting the brewery for a tour if you have not done so.
visited the brewery, yet, but have fallen deeply into love with Tank 7. Will visit when time permits--- probably best to Lyft to it...
