Follow Ups:
because other than the Foreigh Film, Animated, and live-action categories, I have seen 90% of these movies. How did I find the time??? Anyway, I thought this was a good year for movies. For one reason or another, I enjoyed most of them, and am hard-pressed to make my own selections. Probably, the only one that I think should be shoo-in is Chris Cooper in Adaptation - he was brilliant. Renee Zellweger did not deserve a nomination for best actress (and I like her), IMO, Meryl Streep or Catherine Zeta-Jones were more deserving.Daniel Day-Lewis was indeed good, but must not overlook Michael Caine or Nicholas Cage. Perhaps, the biggest travesty of all, George Clooney not getting a nod for his role in Solaris. Just kidding folks.

...NONE OF THEM! A new record. And I like movies.I do plan on seeing Talk to Her and About Schmidt, however.
I haven't seen most of the films myself. But I'd be amazed if anyone acted better than Daniel Day-Lewis in Gangs of NY. I don't know that I've seen better acting in 20 years or so.Little piece about it: my mom saw the film. She grew up in the 1930's in Manhattan. She was amazed by his accent. She said it was amazing -- it was the exact accent she used to hear from old people in her youth, and hadn't heard since.
Of course, she recoiled from all the violence...
# Nominations to smaller, non-Hollywood studios > > # nominations to large Hollywood studios. "Show me the money!"
