Leni Riefenstahl died yesterday morning at the age of 101 in her south German home. According to her companion, it was due to complications from cancer. An astonishing filmmaker, in more ways than one (and that's an understatement!) People will be watching and arguing about "Triumph of the Will" and "Olympiad" for as long as we have audio/visual mediums.

While she remained an unrepentant Nazi sympathiser to the end, it's a real shame that such a major film-making talent was wasted on that God-awful regime
Her artistic and ideological "tarring and feathering" aside; Willens and Olympiad remain masterpieces of propaganda filmmaking; she would've been a force to be reckoned with had she crossed over to the world of postwar advertising m'thinks, let alone had she been let loose on Hollywood
Leni, right or wrong you did it Your Way, and I admire that. Now added to the list of people we don't have to kick around anymore...
She must've been made of strong stuff to survive the 101-year roller coaster ride her life must have been
