F-A-M-I-L-Y movie? Yep, it is stupid but it is very much a family movie. Not badly done either. An early opening scene, where the fact was discussed that too many people don't believe in Santa, made me cringe as I was surrounded by parents and 4 to 10 year olds. Of course, the movie does clear that up and reinforce Cringlehood and all things good. (Yawn?)

Ferrell, whom I never liked on SNL, can be the perfect fool--he delivers in spades here. Jimmy Caan took his role fairly seriously and is entertaning for the adult audience. Newhart, Steenburgen, and Favreau round out the support. This is not ".. Wonderful Life", but people will be pulling out the DVD at Xmas time every year hence.
