For the other guy, of course, the attempt to save him after the fall was the HEIGHT of courage. He risked his butt to save his friend as long as possible.

I think it's a shame that the other guy took flak when they got back to the real world...Interesting to note, about their expedition, that the other guy (I'm forgetting names here) is sort of the only person in the world to have successfully scaled that mountain to its peak and descended without a hitch. How awful for him that probably his greatest achievement was wrecked by what turned out to be misplaced guilt. Awful for both of them, really, that they couldn't enjoy what they accomplished.
