I am not going to remark much on the movie itself. Everyone knows what it is about. It is a strongly argued polemic against Bush and the Iraq war. It is strident, manipulative and at times emotionally powerful. One's opinion on the movie will depend primarily on one's political orientation going in. I suspect no minds will be changed. But this was a most extraordinary movie experience. I often stop off on my way home and see a movie in the late afternoon. These are usually very sparsely attended.
Today there was a crowd of people milling around the theater. I got there 1/2 hour before the movie and the theater was already about half full. The later evening shows were sold out. By the time the movie started, the theater was essentially full, I think there might have been a few seats down in the front.
Political documentary as summer blockbuster? Totally bizarre, but it seems to be true.
There was clapping from the audience at several points during the movie and sustained applause afterwards. I've never seen anything like this, and I go to LOTS of movies.

...in an article that two movies this year had capture the nation's Zeitgeist: The Passion and F9/11: right and left, so to speak. In the United States, I think those who lean more to the left are happy to have F9/11, and other recent news items (e.g., Imperial Hubris) come out so that their perspectives have a voice (to counteract, say, the constant right-wing perspective one gets on cable news channels).

Funny enough, most of the right wing thinks the cable news networks and most of the media itself is liberal. LOL
I saw the movie today and will admit I hated Bush going in but there was a lot of facts presented about the bush/bin laden ties that make me even more exasperated.
